PRAYERS FOR HEALING AND WHOLENESS...

It is a tradition to say a Mi Shebeirah (the prayer that asks the Eternal Source of Healing, based on the merit of our ancestors, to grant a refu’ah shleimah—a return to wholeness and healing) for anyone who is ailing or who is in need of our support. Our tradition teaches that as long as there is life, there is hope. It is customary in our congregation to share the name of the person for whom you would like this prayer to be said. The words we sing together each Saturday morning are:

Mi Shebeirah avoteinu Avraham, Yitzhak, v’Ya’akov
Sarah, Rivkah, Rahel, v’Lei’ah
Hu y’vareih, vi’y’rapei et haholim,
Eil na r’fa na la, Eil na r’fa na la.
Eil na r’fa na la, Eil na r’fa na la.

May God who blessed our ancestors, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob,
Sarah, Rebekah, Rachel, and Leah,
Bring blessing and healing to ____________________.
Please God, heal him/her now.
Please God, heal him/her now. and Their Caregivers

May the One who blesses all Life, bless and heal these people who struggle against illness.

A PRAYER FOR ALL WHO ARE ILL...

May those afflicted with disease be blessed with faith, courage, loving and caring.

May they know much support and sustenance from their friend, their loving companions and their communities.

May they be granted a full and complete healing of the body and soul.

May those who seek ways of healing through increased medical knowledge and those who care for the sick daily be blessed with courage, stamina and communal support.

May all, the sick and the well together, be granted courage and hope. And let us say: Amen

THE TRADITION OF GIVING

In Jewish tradition, along with a prayer for healing of the body and soul, it is customary to give tzedakah (justice or charity) to increase the flow of kindness in the world. If you would like to give a donation to Ahavat Torah Congregation to be used for our Social Action/Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World) projects or for the Rabbi’s Discretionary Fund (to Anonymously Help Those in Need) please send a check with the name of your ailing loved one to:
